Welcome to the Burlington County Health Starts Here Page.
Earlier this year, former Freeholder Director Leah Arter introduced a campaign to encourage Burlington County residents to live healthier, exercise more, manage stress better, and take advantage of health screenings offered by organizations across the county.
If we all work hard to improve our total wellness, we can look forward to longer, healthier, and brighter futures.
We recognize that a healthy lifestyle starts at the earliest ages, and campaigns to encourage children to eat well and take an active part in their healthcare can both educate and excite our youngest residents. An Asthma Awareness Poster Contest proved to be a fun and engaging way for children to learn about their condition and manage it well. Partnering with local businesses, we have begun a “Healthy Kid’s Hero” initiative to offer healthier kid’s menu items for the children of Burlington County.
Still, healthy living can be encouraged at any age. When people are busy, it can be hard to find the time to exercise. This year, we at the County took part in National Walk at Lunch Day to promote physical activity during the work day. Exercising throughout the day in unconventional ways is a great way to stay active and can be a good habit year-round.
Health Starts Here is already taking major strides to help residents improve their lives and remain conscious of their health. Moving forward, I hope that all of our residents will take advantage of our programs and find ways to make healthy living a part of their own lives.
