Residents’ household recycling efforts last year saved our towns and taxpayers more than $3.4 million in landfill tipping fees.

County residents diverted – on average – 20% of their household waste from the landfill just by recycling paper, cardboard, bottles, and cans at the curb and at their municipal drop offs.

The total collected was nearly 47,000 tons.

The Program
This material was all collected and recycled by the Burlington County Regional Recycling Program, operated by the Occupational Training Center and sponsored by the Burlington County Board of Chosen Freeholders.

Recycling staff is working with all the towns to raise their rates to the 25% mark.
