Freeholder Deputy Director Balvir Singh announces upcoming events next week in Burlington County.


“Don’t miss the Business Resources Expo on June 5 which will feature a variety of information for those looking to start or expand their business,” said Freeholder Deputy Director Singh. “The expo will include several workshops designed to provide business owners and entrepreneurs with all the tools for having a successful business including information on where to begin, knowing your market, business planning, building a network, procuring funds and much more.”


Event: Plant-Based Series: Breakfast Cooking Class

Date and Time: Monday, June 3, 6:00 PM

Location: Burlington County Agricultural Center, 500 Centerton Road, Moorestown, NJ 08057

Let's welcome a new instructor to the Farmhouse Kitchen! Patrice has been teaching plant-based cooking to adults and kids in local communities for the past 5 years with an approach based on eating local, seasonal, organic whole foods. Her aim is to bust the myth that plant-based cooking is tasteless and boring. In her classes, you’ll learn to create well-balanced, nutritious, and delicious plant-based meals. Each class will include a cooking demonstration, recipes, and a discussion on eating a healthy plant-based diet. Menu: Tofu Scramble, Cornbread Muffins, Homemade Berry Jam. $100 for 3-class series or $40 per class. Series continues on June 10. To register click here.

 

Event: Tuesday Talk

A series of nature walks led by Naturalist Jen Bulava on select Tuesdays and Fridays. This program will repeat on Friday June 7. The topic this week will focus on a grassland bird species. Register online. To register click here.


Event: Tuesday Preschool Story/Music Time

Date and Time: Tuesday, June 4, 11:00 AM

Location: Rancocas Nature Center, 794 Rancocas Mt Holly Rd, Westampton, NJ 08060

Father’s Day- This approximately hour-long program will focus on Father’s Day and include a themed craft. Children will enjoy hearing 3 short stories, separated by 3 songs that are played along with rhythm instruments. This program is geared toward children ages 2-5 accompanied by a parent or guardian, but siblings are welcome. Register online. Event: Business Resources Expo

Date and Time: Wednesday, June 5, 9:00-11:00 AM

Location: Rowan College at Burlington County, Votta Hall, 900 College Circle, Mount Laurel, NJ 08054

On Wednesday, June 5 from 9-11 a.m. Rowan College at Burlington County will host an event for residents to explore public resources for starting and growing their businesses. The event, which will be held in Votta Hall, will host more than a dozen resource tables and eight separate lectures for entrepreneurs to enjoy. Event: Little Sprouts

Date and Time: Wednesday, June 5, 1:30 PM

Location: Rancocas Nature Center, 794 Rancocas Mt Holly Rd., Westampton, NJ 08060

Peter Rabbit’s Favorites – We will harvest salad greens and herbs for a salad and make an infused vinegar for dressing. This gardening program is for preschoolers accompanied by an adult. Each meeting will focus on a different aspect of gardening and include work time in the garden. Please dress accordingly. Register online. There is no charge for this program, but participants need to be Rancocas Nature Center members. Series continues Wednesday June 12 and 19.

 

Event: Wildlife Photography

Date and Time: Thursday, June 6, 9:00 AM

Location: Crystal Lake Park, 2401 Axe Factory Road, Mansfield, NJ 08505

You don’t need to go to exotic places to get great wildlife photos! From butterflies and dragonflies, to birds and mammals, our parks host a great variety of species. Join other avid photographers and learn tips and tricks to make your wildlife photos stand out. A basic understanding of photography and how your camera works is required. Limit 10 people. Event: RNC Outdoor Photography Club

Event: Addiction Support Group Meeting

The Board of Chosen Freeholders is partnering with Ashley Addiction Treatment to host Addiction Support Group Meetings on the 1st & 3rd Thursday of every month from 6:30 – 8:00 p.m. at the Agricultural Center Farmhouse located at 500 Centerton Road, Moorestown, NJ. The individual battling addiction isn’t the only one in need of healing. Parent & Family Connection is a safe, professionally-facilitated resource for family members and parents/guardians that have a child or loved one in recovery or actively using. It’s a place to share support, wisdom, and perspective to help cope with the collateral effects of addiction.

Event: Outdoor Movie Series, Beauty and the Beast

Date and Time: Friday, June 7, 8:00 PM

Location: Pennington Park, 801 Creek Road, Delanco, NJ 08075

Join us at Pennington Park for an outdoor movie. Pennington Park will transform into an outdoor cinema as we present Beauty and The Beast. Bring the kids out for one of their favorite classic movies. Movie begins at 8 PM. A food truck will be on site. The next movie in the series will be on June 14 with a showing of E.T. at Crystal Lake Park.


Event: Farmers Market

The weekly farmers market continues at the Agricultural Center in Moorestown. Pack up the family and spend a day on the farm where you’ll find artisan breads, cheeses and chocolates, baked goods and prepared foods to enjoy at the market or take home for dinner. Local honey is always in, along with fresh eggs and local produce. The flowers are beautiful this time of year. Be sure to take home annuals, perennials or cut flowers. Event: Intro to Archery with County Park Rangers

Join County Park Rangers for a day of Archery at Garden State Archers. Anyone over 10 years of age can participate (10-17 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian). No equipment or experience is necessary. Meet the rangers and put a modern spin on this ancient sport! $15 for ages 14+. $10 for ages 10-13 with student ID. Event: Flying Fishing for Beginners

In this introductory class, join Ranger Chris and learn the basics of fly fishing. Ever wonder why the equipment is so different and how it is used? Learn the basics of a forward and backward cast. Event: Plein Air Painting in Nature for Adults

If you have always had an interest in painting and love nature – this is for you. Some painting experience preferred, but beginners are welcome. Nature will provide our inspiration and we will provide a canvas, easel, acrylic paints, and guidance from an experienced art instructor. Feel free to bring snacks to enjoy while painting. Event: Earth Fair

Ever think you could be doing more to help save the planet? Venture over to the Annual Earth Fair to find out! Making a return visit again this year, the Sustainable Living Tent is full of ideas for reducing your carbon footprint. A fan favorite and popular guest at the event, Mike McGrath, host of ‘You Bet Your Garden’, will present How to Attract Pollinators and Other Beneficial Beasts To Your Beds. The 26th annual Earth Fair will be full of ideas to live cleaner and greener. Learn from Environmental Stewards at Rutgers, Rowan, and the NJ Department of Environmental Protection about the latest technology used in land and water conservation. The County Recycling Program will bring the Spinning Trivia Prize Wheel so you can test your knowledge on the right ways to recycle. Sign up to make your own rain barrel! Rain barrel workshops will require registration and fee. What about the kids? There will be plenty of fun activities for kids, including a rock wall, Amazon obstacle course, and animal exhibits. Live music will be performed throughout the day by The Green Planet, Super Lemonade, and Marc Berger. In addition to learning how to help save it, there will be many activities that allow you to enjoy the Earth! Event is free.


Event: 2019 Science and Nature Art Show

Date and Time: June 6 – August 4

Location: Smithville Mansion Annex Gallery, 803 Smithville Rd., Eastampton, NJ 08060

Nature has a tremendous influence on the conception of art. Artists have been inspired to make countless forms of art and many times science is used the catalyst of creation. This exhibit will showcase artwork that represents nature’s splendor, the great outdoors, and highlights creations in the scientific world. View works that were created by artists’ imaginations and their interpretations of how art and science reflect the world we live in. Gallery hours are Thursday - Saturday, 10 AM - 4 PM and Sunday, Noon - 4 p.m. The Annex will hold its 43rd annual Juried Exhibit beginning August 8.


Event: Art Exhibit Emerging Artist III: Lawrence Davis

Date and Time: May 9 – June 16, 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM

Location: Warden's House Gallery, 150 High St., Mt Holly, NJ 08060

Rotating exhibits featuring works by different artists will be presented at the Wardens House in historic downtown Mount Holly. Each artist will be featured for a six-week exhibit in order to highlight their outstanding work. Featured in this exhibit is the work of Lawrence Davis. Lawrence’s work reflects the timelessness of Americana in the form of landscapes and barnscapes. His work reflects that of the Brandywine Valley School of painting made popular by the Wyeth Family and Howard Pyle. Gallery hours are Thursday - Saturday, 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. and Sunday, Noon - 4 p.m.


Event: Rancocas Nature Center Photo and Nature Exhibit

Date and Time: May 9 – June 16, 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM

Location: Worker’s House and Gallery, 803 Smithville Rd., Eastampton, NJ 08060

Experience the beauty and diversity of the Rancocas Nature Center through an exhibit at the Workers House Museum and Gallery. Through May, we will be hosting a display featuring photographs, natural history items and books, and preserved animal mounts, all from Rancocas' permanent collection of artifacts. Find out all the wonderful things the Nature Center has to offer. Gallery hours are Thursday - Saturday, 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. and Sunday, Noon - 4 p.m.


Event: Tours of Smithville Mansion

Date and Time: June 2 – October 31

Location: Smithville Park, 803 Smithville Rd., Eastampton, NJ 08060

The Mansion is open for tours May 4 through October 31 on Sunday and Thursday. Tours begin at 1 p.m., 2 p.m. and 3 p.m. Cost: Adults $8.00; Seniors & Students $7.00. Event: Hugh Campbell Collection Art Exhibit

MOUNT HOLLY IN THE MID-20TH CENTURY THROUGH THE EYES OF HUGH H. CAMPBELL - Hugh H. Campbell was a man of many talents. He expressly captured his own view of Mount Holly via his paintbrush. He was an artist, published author and philosopher who lived an extremely minimalistic life. Learn more about him and see select works from the Hugh H. Campbell Collection.
