Meet the Burlington County Woman of the Week for June 22, Jayla Washington!

Jayla Washington is sixteen years old and a student at Burlington Township High School. She is a military child, and has lived in many different states before moving to New Jersey. Jayla is the second oldest of four children.

As an African American woman, Jayla felt that it was important to speak out about the injustices being committed in our country. It is most important to her to educate the youth and create solutions on how young people can fix our nation’s problems.

Jayla was one of the organizers of a Black Lives Matter protest in Burlington Township, NJ. She is dedicated to creating change in any way that she can. Her desire is to create a better world for her younger sisters.
