Amico Island Park was closed from June 11th through June 15th due to an aggressive raccoon. The raccoon was encountered on June 11th near a newly fallen tree at the intersection of the red and yellow trails. After several days of searching, the raccoon has not been found and appears to have returned to its normal nocturnal activity. It is likely that the raccoon was protecting its young who were in or near the fallen tree.
Please use caution while visiting the park and report any raccoon sightings to a County Park Ranger at (609) 668-5164.
