Burlington County Sheriff’s Department to Host Senior Citizen’s Police Academy Starting March 9


Burlington County Undersheriff Bryan Norcross announced that the Sheriff’s department will be conducting its Senior Citizen’s Police Academy on seven consecutive Thursdays beginning March 9 and running through April 20, 2017.

The program, which focuses on safety issues important to seniors, is free. Those interested in attending should call the Sheriff’s Community Services Unit at 609-265-3788.

“Our department is proud to provide senior citizens with the opportunity to gain a wealth of information and knowledge,” said Undersheriff Norcross. “Participants will interact with county law enforcement and public safety staff who will teach them how they can better protect themselves from violence, accidents and consumer fraud.”

Topics that will be covered by officers from the Sheriff’s Department and other county agencies include:

  • Traffic Safety
  • Personal Protection
  • Home Security Program
  • Photo Id cards
  • BCSD Dept. information

  • Superior Court Presentation

  • Fire Prevention

The classes will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Emergency Services Training Center, located at 53 Academy Drive Westampton, NJ 08060. All participants will also be provided with a Senior I.D. Card. Graduation will be held on the last day of the academy, refreshments will be provided.
