The Solid Waste Division plans for, implements, and operates facilities located at the 522-acre Resource Recovery Complex for the environmentally sound management of residential and commercial solid waste, the recycling and reuse of tires, construction material, and old appliances and the processing of sewage sludge into compost fertilizer. Solid Waste Management oversees operation of the regional recycling program that provides for collection of recyclables at the curb and at drop-off sites located throughout the County, and procides assistance to businesses, institutions, and multifamily complexes in establishing recycling programs.
Working through this office, The County has partnered with Rutgers Universite to create the EcoComplex, an environmental research center.
