All small businesses must be registered in the county where they are conducting business. Most banks require a certified copy of a firm name registration to open a business bank account.
The owner can only register sole proprietors or partnerships. LLC’s, DBA’s, TBA’s and corporations must register with the State of New Jersey. Questions regarding these registrations should be addressed to the state at (609) 292-9292.

You may register your business with the County Corner in person or the Burlington County Clerk’s Office either in person or by mail. When the parties in a business are from out-of-state, a power of attorney form must also be filed.

Hours: Monday - Friday 10:00am -9:00pm and Saturday 10:00am - 5:00pm.

Fee: $60.00 – Certified Check, Money Order or Credit/Debit Card only.
We cannot accept Cash or Business/Personal Checks.

By Mail

  • Contact the Burlington County Clerk's Office at (609) 265-5188 and request a Trade Name Registration Form.
  • Complete the forms as indicated. Signatures must be notarized when applying by mail.
  • Mail the completed forms and the required $60.00 fee.
Certified Check or Money Order only.
