Using yoga to attain well-being through a series of exercises is growing in popularity. Join Christine Black, a Yoga Alliance Certified Instructor, for an early evening introduction. We will set up inside the Visitor Center and transition to the front lawn to enjoy the fresh outdoors as the season progresses. Cost: RNC members, $10/per person; non-members, $12/per person. Speaking of nature series - Welcome Michelle Smith, Information and Education Coordinator for NJDEP’s Division of Fish and Wildlife as she presents "Know the Bear Facts." As black bears have now been confirmed in all 21 of New Jersey's counties, residents are encouraged to become better educated about this important component of the state's natural heritage. The program offers information about living with black bears, the natural history and biology of bears in the Garden State, and the results of past and current black bear research. It also includes practical information on coexisting with black bears, such as steps one should follow in order to ensure that bears do not become a nuisance animal in the neighborhood. The annual art exhibit will feature winter and holiday themed pieces from local artists. Exhibit will open on December 3 during the Victorian Holiday Celebration and remain open through the month of December. Enjoy the exhibit during as part of the Mansion tours and Candlelight tours. Sales from the artwork will benefit the Friends of the Mansion at Smithville.

DECEMBER 4 - TOURS OF THE MANSION, Smithville Park Enjoy the splendor of a Christmas past with a guided tour of the Historic Smithville Mansion, lavishly decorated for the holidays in a grand Victorian style. The 2017 theme is a Victorian Christmas during Queen Victoria’s reign in the mid 1800’s. Tours are daily and begin at 1:00, 2:00, & 3:00 PM. Adults: $7, Seniors and Students: $6. No reservation required.

DECEMBER 7-10, 6:30 PM - EVENING VILLAGE TOUR, Smithville Park Join Parks’ staff for a free, guided tour throughout the Historic Village at Smithville Park. Learn about the history of the park while enjoying the beautifully lighted landscape. These evening tours are free and select family nights include a visit from Mr. Scrooge and end with a warm cup of hot cocoa and cookies with Mrs. Claus! Family nights will be held on December 8 & 9, and December 15 &16. Candlelight tours of the Smithville Mansion are also offered on select nights for a fee.
