For the last week of the Junior Ranger Program, families can come out and do a fun sensory walk at staggered times throughout the morning from 9-12. Stations will be set up along the trail that require you to stop and use all of your senses to experience nature to its fullest. There is so much to see, smell, hear, and touch; just follow the cards at each of the stations. A naturalist will be present to get you started and to hear what you found. Sign your family up for a time interval between 9:00am and 12:00pm. Students who completed the activity packet can receive their Junior Ranger souvenir patch as well. For both levels of Jr Ranger. Register online: Choose from either August 12 or August 14.

August 1, 2021, 10:00 AM - September 12, 2021, 4:00 PM @ Warden's House Gallery
This exhibit, Causa sui (pronounced kau?. sa 's?. i) is a Latin term relating to a philosophical hypothesis denoting that something is self-generating or self-creating. Artist Jaquie Solimeo offers her take on abstract painting and what makes her love it so much. As imperfect humans, she thinks that we can feel so aware of that imperfection that the process of creation and expression like art can be tainted. When Jaquie sees art that she carefully planned, created and recreated, and toiled over, it seems ugly because what she really sees is this all-consuming battle against imperfection. Her experience with abstract art, however, is that it's almost as if it creates itself. There’s no plan, no expectation, no anxiety…and in the end when she looks at it, she finally sees art and beauty.
