The Hazlehursts of Philadelphia And Mount Holly
Wednesday, May 25, 2022
The Hazlehurst family may not be one that you readily recognize, but they played a significant role in our nation’s early history and that of Mount Holly. Isaac Hazlehurst was one of only five allowed to sign Continental currency and welcomed troops into his home, Clover Hill, during the American Revolution. His daughter, Mary Elizabeth, was influential in the life of first lady Dolley Madison. Together, along with other family in Philadelphia and Mount Holly, would help to shape early America.
