Youth Services

The Division of Youth Services provides a broad spectrum of services to support the education, employment, and judiciary needs of youth and young adults in our County. Programs and services are defined by members of our YSAC (Youth Services Advisory Council) Planning committee and/or WDB (Workforce Development Board) and are fulfilled via an open bid, competitive Request-for-Proposal (RFP) process.

The Juvenile Justice Commission (JJC) and Department of Labor (DOL) are the primary funding sources for our programs. Annually, the Burlington County Board of County Commissioners approves funds to maintain “Shelter Homes for Juveniles in Crisis”. Referrals to this program are primarily through the Family Crisis Intervention Unity (FCIU). The Division also receives funds from the JJC to create JDAI (Juvenile Detention Alternative Initiative) Innovation programs. The purpose of Innovation funds is to provide youth with alternatives to detention while safely reducing their population in our Juvenile Detention Center. Ultimately, Innovation programs help to keep youth at home and provide much needed support for families with youth engaged in the Juvenile Justice System.

The Division of Youth Services welcomes businesses, agencies, and community leaders to participate in our RFP process to help deliver the programs and services we offer the residents we serve.

Children’s Inter-Agency Coordinating Committee (CIACC)

The Burlington County Children’s Inter-Agency Coordinating Committee (CIACC), in collaboration with the Department of Children and Families (DCF), Children’s System of Care (CSOC) strives to ensure a seamless array of services. The CIACC serves as the county mechanism to advise the Burlington County Board of County Commissioners and the State Department of Children and Families (DCF) on the development and maintenance of a responsive, accessible, and integrated system of care for children, youth and young adults with emotional and behavioral challenges, substance abuse challenges and/or DD/ID challenges and their families, through the involvement of parents, children, youth and young adults, child-serving agencies, and community representatives. Through enhanced coordination of system partners, the CIACC also identifies service and resource gaps and priorities for resource development.
