It’s the season of giving and the Burlington County Sheriff’s Office is once again collecting new, unwrapped toys to give to Burlington County children.

The Sheriff’s 30th Annual Toy Drive is underway with donation bins at more than 50 locations across Burlington County. Collections will occur regularly now through Dec. 15.

More than 6,000 toys and gifts were collected during last year’s drive and were distributed to local families in need by the Sheriff’s Office and its partners. The Sheriff’s Office also continues to accept donations of food, toiletries, water, toys, paper supplies and other household goods for distribution year-round.

“As members of law enforcement, we take a lot of pride in serving Burlington County communities, and the toy drive is a special part of that service,” said Burlington County Sheriff James Kostoplis. “It’s a longstanding tradition that has helped brighten the holidays for thousands of children and families. We want to make this year’s drive our most successful yet, so we’re once again reaching out for community support.”

A complete list of donation bin locations is available on the Sheriff’s Office Facebook page and County website at https://www.co.burlington.nj.us/2042/Holiday-Toy-Drive .

Among the donation sites is the lobby of the Burlington County Administration Building at 49 Rancocas Road in Mount Holly.

“Tis the season of giving and our Board and staff are proud to participate in this important holiday tradition,” said Burlington County Commissioner Randy Brolo. “The holidays are just a few weeks aways, so we’re encouraging those who are able to purchase an extra toy or gift when they shop to contribute it to the Sheriff’s Toy Drive. You’ll be helping to bring joy to children throughout Burlington County.”

The Sheriff’s Office originally began collecting toys and other holiday items as a holiday service, but it has grown into a year-round operation that has aided numerous families throughout the year.

“The Toy Drive began as a way to help make sure all Burlington County children received a toy or gift during the holidays,” said Sheriff Kostoplis. “That’s still our goal, but we also know needs exists year-round. Thanks to the generosity of Burlington County residents and businesses, our office has been able to provide help 12 months a year. It’s a way to assist our communities and build stronger ties with those we protect and serve.”

Donated toys and gifts will be distributed to local families who could benefit from some holiday assistance. An application is available online at https://burlingtoncountynj.formstack.com/forms/holiday_toy_drive_copy_1 .

Families with questions should contact the Sheriff’s Community Outreach Unit at 609-265-3788.
