Earth Day and Arbor Day Stories – Two spring days that teach us about what we can do to help the Earth. This approximately hour-long Wednesday program will celebrate Earth Day and Arbor Day! Children will enjoy hearing 3 short stories read aloud, separated by 3 songs that are played along to with rhythm instruments. End the session with a themed craft. This program is geared toward children ages 2-5, but older and younger children are welcome. There is no charge for this program, but participants must be Rancocas Nature Center members. Event: Little Sprouts Preschool Gardening Club

Exploring Seeds, The Three Sisters - This gardening program for preschoolers accompanied by an adult, focuses on gardens and plants, worms, mud, seeds, and work in the garden throughout the spring. Each meeting will focus on a different aspect of gardening. Please dress accordingly. Register online. There is no charge for this program, but participants must be Rancocas Nature Center members. Event: Young Birders Club

Do you know a student who is interested in nature and birds? This club is a series offered by Naturalists from Burlington County Parks and the Rancocas Nature Center for students in grades 5 and up. On this trip coinciding with spring break, we will search for early migratory birds visiting the varied habitats at Boundary Creek. Like to hike, but don’t like doing it alone? Or, do you want to start walking outdoors? Come out for a brisk hike in nature at the perfect time to enjoy Spring’s awakening. Do you want to be part of a citizen science project to help Burlington County Parks gain important and useful data? Join Park Naturalist Kate Szostak as she conducts frog and toad call surveys to collect new data for the Parks. Attending the “Amazing Amphibians” program at the Burlington County Lyceum of History and Natural Sciences on March 13 is recommended to learn frog and toad calls, but not required. Event: Speaking of Nature Series "Plight of the Bobwhite Quail"

Northern Bobwhite Quail occur throughout all or part of 38 U.S. states, but due to large scale changes in land use, their populations have been declining since the early 1900s. Currently, major efforts are underway to restore and maintain bobwhite habitat and populations. This program, including live Bobwhite Quail, will focus on the plight of the species, what is needed to help them succeed in re-establishing their population, and the mission of the Bobwhite Quail Project to provide and sustain suitable habitat for quail and other upland bird species. Event: Spring Break Fun Birds and Birding Basics

Would you like to learn some simple skills for identifying birds? Interested in a new family hobby? Birding is a great way to connect with nature in your own backyard. This program is for beginning birders of all ages. Engaging activities will introduce participants to bird topography, bird classification, bird ID skills, and bird behavior. It’s a great way to start on a lifetime of observing our colorful feathered friends. The afternoon includes a walk to look and listen for resident and migrant birds on the Rancocas Nature Center trails. To register click here.

Event: Clean Communities Park Litter Cleanup

Volunteers are needed to help keep our environment clean and green! Participate in cleaning up litter that has made its way into this park. Individuals, groups, and organizations are welcome. Bags, gloves, and grabbers will be provided along with light refreshments and a water jug to refill your reusable water bottle. Central Jersey Tractor Pullers Association holds tractor pulls throughout the year open to spectators! Garden Tractor Pull open to youth and adults start the day with large tractor pulls beginning immediately afterwards. Registration is 60 minutes before the pull each day. Event: Overnight Camping with Rangers

Join our Park Rangers for an overnight camping experience in the park. Go for a sunset hike with the sights and sounds of the seasonal night life in the park followed by a campfire under the moonlight. Event: Arbor Day Habitat Improvement

To celebrate Arbor Day 2019, Rancocas Nature Center staff and naturalists will be planting pine tree seedlings in the Pine Plantation on the Blue Trail. Volunteer an hour or two, as your help is needed. Time has taken its toll on the aging tree grove, so young trees will be planted in between the tall evergreens to ensure the continuation of the conifer forest for the next generation. Event: Burlington County 2019 Teen Arts Exhibit

Visit Historic Smithville Park to see works by the talented teens of Burlington County. Schools throughout the region will be represented. This will be a great opportunity for students, families and the community to see the artwork in a gallery setting. Gallery hours: Thursday-Saturday 10-4; Sunday 12-4. Event: Art Exhibit, Emerging Artists, Dual Feature: Josh Toritto and Don Stephens

Rotating exhibits featuring works by different artists will be presented at the Wardens House in historic downtown Mount Holly. Each artist will be featured for a six-week exhibit in order to highlight their outstanding work. Joshua is an artist who has received his education through the Perkins Center of the Arts. Don Stephens is what you might call a Figurative Expressive Artist. Earning his education through Tyler School of Arts, he is also in communicator in the US Marine Corps Reserve. Event: Art Exhibit 2019 Teen Arts State Touring Exhibit

This exhibit will include artwork deemed to be the best of the best created by students participating in the 2018 NJ Teen Arts Festivals. MOUNT HOLLY IN THE MID-20TH CENTURY THROUGH THE EYES OF HUGH H. CAMPBELL - Hugh H. Campbell was a man of many talents. He expressly captured his own view of Mount Holly via his paintbrush. He was an artist, published author and philosopher who lived an extremely minimalistic life. Learn more about him and see select works from the Hugh H. Campbell Collection.
