[ARCHIVED] Burlington County Woman of the Week for September 7, Mia Nissim!

Mia Nissim

Mia is only 16 years old and has started her own baking
business, The Blue Butterly Bakery. Mia weaves her compassion for others into her business plan. Helpingher mother, Karen, put together medical meals for their local hospital was not enough for Mia. With her own business, she has decided to give a third of her
weekly profits to charity. Occasionally, this means simply donating the money, but more often it means taking her profits and using them to buy food and careproducts to make homemade meals and care packages for others in need. 

following is a list of Mia’s accomplishments so far: 


  • She has prepared meals for over 200 front line medicalworkers 
  • She has donated to the Robert Wood Johnson hospital in New
    Brunswick, Cooper University hospital in Camden and the Mamonities hospital inBrooklyn New York
  • She has donated to the Clare Estate Assisted Living
    facility in Bordentown and the Jewish Home Family Assisted Living facility inRockleigh 
  • She has donated to the Hope Hose Fire Company first
    responders in Bordentown. 
  • She has donated over $400 worth of homemade meals, foodstuffs, and personal care products to The Extended Hand Homeless shelter in Mt.
    Holly, donated over 40 bags of personal care products to the Pine Motel Housingin Bordentown, donated supply’s to the Burlington County Animal Shelter,
    donated art supply’s, toys and books to the pediatric ward at Capital HealthHospital in Pennington, and donated food and meals to the Four Corners School
    in Burlington  
  • Mia also donates to the Boabab Home in Bagamoyo Tanzania tohelp with their mission of treating orphaned AIDS babies.
