The Burlington County Office of Emergency Management continues to work on an update to the Hazard Mitigation Plan for the county all 40 municipalities and plans to present the draft plan for review during two upcoming meetings..
The plan is required by the federal government and State of New Jersey for Burlington County and local communities to remain eligible for mitigation funding to reduce risk and improve communities’ resiliency to various types of disasters.
The plan focuses on buildings infrastructure and critical facilities, plus future devilment that could be impacted. Ultimately, the plan will seek to identify mitigation projects that reduce vulnerabilities and help communities become more resilient.
To date, the County has completed a risk assessment to identify hazards that may impact Burlington county and its municipalities and their potential consequences, including the potential losses that could result from each type of hazard. The County and its municipalities have also developed mitigation strategies to reduce potential losses.
Two public meetings will be held over the next several weeks to review draft sections of the new plan. Those meetings are as follows:
- A Steering Committee meeting will be held to review the draft Hazard Mitigation Plan and determine plan maintenance procedures. The meeting will be held virtually on Thursday, February 15, at 1 PM. The meeting can be accessed at https://msteams.link/O014.
