A high-quality $30,000 bachelor's degree is within reach thanks to a new partnership between Rowan University and Rowan College of Burlington County, which was officially and ceremonially signed yesterday by Rowan College at Burlington County College President Paul Drayton and Rowan University President Dr. Ali Houshmand.

The two presidents, Rowan College at Burlington County Trustee Katie Gibbs, and Rowan University Board of Trustees Chairman Linda Rohrer signed a ceremonial resolution surrounded by Trustees Michael Minton, Primitivo Cruz, Marilyn Williamson and Burlington County Freeholder Director and alumnus Mary Ann O'Brien. You may watch the ceremony here.

“Two outstanding institutions have opened the door to the future of higher education,” President Paul Drayton said. “Students will have the opportunity to earn one of the finest four-year university degrees in the nation for less than what it costs to attend one year at many four-year universities.”

The agreement aims to fix the broken model of higher education by packaging a Rowan College at Burlington County associate degree with Rowan University's bachelor degree. Effectively immediately, all students will be conditionally accepted to the university upon completion of their associate degree from Rowan College at Burlington County.

Students will have access to online completion programs (with a 15 percent tuition discount) in psychology, law and justice, and general studies this fall. The university will begin offering a general studies program on the Mount Laurel campus next spring. By fall 2017, on-campus programs (which also provide a 15 percent tuition discount) may include a master's in STEM education, electrical and computer engineering, liberal studies, computing and informatics, mechanical engineering and nursing.

The historic agreement will lead to a complete rebranding and aggressive marketing effort for the college. Please visit the Rowan College at Burlington County Website for more details on the program including a fact sheet and President Drayton's presentation on the partnership.

Rowan College at Burlington County is planning several events to build excitement about the new brand and partnership leading to the fall semester. We will let you know as soon as they are scheduled.
