Burlington County residents are invited to a special resource fair dedicated to improving health and remaining housing secure.

The 4th Annual Bring Health Home Resource Fair will be held Friday, May 9, from 1 PM to 4 PM at the Burlington County Library System’s Main Branch Library at 5 Pioneer Boulevard, Westampton.

The event is organized and sponsored by the Burlington County Commissioners and Burlington County Department of Human Services, Burlington County Health Department and the Burlington County Minority and Equality Rights Task Force. It features free health screenings, fitness classes, mindfulness activities and information tables from more than 40 participating agencies and service providers.

“Good health starts at home and Burlington County prioritizes programs and resources that help all residents live healthy lives, including assistance related to sufficient, stable housing,” said Burlington County Commissioner Director Dr. Felicia Hopson. “The Bring Health Home Resource Fair brings together a variety of health and housing resources in one location so residents can easily access information and receive information and in-person case management for a number of useful programs.”

Among the participating department agencies are the Burlington County Health Department, Burlington County Division of Community Development, the Burlington County Recovery Resource Center, Burlington County Office on Aging, Burlington County Division of Behavioral Health, Burlington County Housing Hub, Burlington County Animal Shelter and Burlington County Hope One and Hope One For Youth mobile outreach units.

Some of the participating service providers are the UnitedHealthCare, Christian Caring Center, Food Bank of South Jersey, Oaks Integrated Care, Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield New Jersey, Beacon of Hope, Sanctuary Foundation for Veterans, Habitat for Humanity of South Central NJ, Providence House, Aetna Better Health, Jefferson Health, Volunteers or America, South Jersey Legal Services and more.

This year will feature community education programs in the library’s auditorium, including a Healthy Living Bingo game run by the Burlington County Health Department and presentations from the New Jersey Housing and Mortgage Finance Agency and the New Jersey Department of Community Affairs.

There will also be food and entertainment during this family-friendly event focused on health, housing and making sure residents know about available resources.

“Seeking information about health and housing can sometimes be intimidating,” said Burlington County Commissioner Randy Brolo. “Burlington County created this resource fair to make it easy for residents to get screened and learn more about proper nutrition, exercise and other healthy lifestyles, along with programs that can help them remain in secure, affordable housing.”
