Notary Public Commissions

To be commissioned as a Notary Public in New Jersey, you must take your Commission Packet to your County Clerk's office within 90 days to swear to the Notary Public Oath of Office. Please be aware that you must pay an additional fee of $15 to your County Clerk for recording your Oath of Office. 

The County Corner Store location accepts walk-ins for the public oath of office for notaries public commissions.

Step 1

Complete the Notary Application form to file your application online and pay the filing fee of $30.

After the State processes your application, you should receive your Notary Commission by mail.

Step 2/Swearing-In

When you receive your paperwork from the state, you may bring your green certificate to the County Clerk's Office at 50 Rancocas Road in Mount Holly, Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM, or the County Corner Store at 1020 Briggs Road in Mount Laurel, Monday - Friday, 10 AM - 7 PM and Saturdays from 10 AM - 5 PM.

You must do so within 90 days of the commission date on the certificate. Photo ID and proof of address required.

The fee to be sworn in is $15.

You cannot notarize until you have been sworn in. Once sworn in, you may obtain your stamp and seal at a stationary store.

Payment Note

The County Corner in the Moorestown Mall only accepts checks, money orders, or credit/debit cards. No cash payment is accepted.

Change of Name or Address

If you change your name or address, you must file a name or address change form (PDF) with the state and county holding your commission. Name changes require an additional $25 fee.

Moving Outside Burlington County

If you move outside of Burlington County, you must request a certificate of commission from the county where you are registered as a notary. There is a $5 fee for this request.

The certificate must then be filed with the new county. There is a $15 fee to register the certificate of commission with the new county.

Office Notary Services

Need a notary? We have notaries on staff to help you. 

However:

  • We cannot provide notary acknowledgment or jurat forms.
  • We can not notarize: 
    • Documents that will be recorded with the Burlington County Clerk's Office (deeds, powers of attorney, liens, etc.)
    • Documents that will be recorded with or submitted to the Burlington Courts System (e.g. wills and estates, etc.)
    • Petitions for office.

Do not sign the document before arriving. If you need a witness for the documents, please bring them with you.
